Tomas lost the final at the Catella Swedish Open in Bastad 4:6 1:6 to Tommy Robredo (ESP). At 3:3 in the first set Tomas made a bad step and he turned his knee wrong. After the medical time he taped it but had still a lot of pain. "Congratulation to Tommy first of all. I´m very sorry that I couldn´t play my best tennis today. I injured myself and I´m feeling not well today. I hope I play better here next year. Thank you to everybody from the Tournament for the great time here. I hope to be in Bastad next year again." Said Tomas after the match. Thomas Wallen, Tournament Director about Tomas: "Tomas, you´re one of the nicest guys and a great player. We hope that you come back next year. We are sorry that you got injured today" Edit: “I'm not sure what is this pain but since I just came back from an ankle injury I was afraid to force too much. The crowd was amazing today so I didn't want to retire without trying. I did everything I could but to beat Tommy when you are 100% is already difficult, imagine when you are not. Tommy played well all week and deserved to win the title." said Tomas at the press conference. “It is unfortunate that Tomas felt an injury in his knee in the first set,” commented Robredo. Tomas next Tournament will be the Masters Series Tournament of Canada. We hope his knee is Okay until then. We will let you know about it asap.
